BLACKSBURG - The 12th-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling team will kick off the 2012-13 campaign this weekend at the Salem Civic Center, hosting the Hokie Open all day Sunday.
This will be the fifth Hokie Open at the Civic Center. Top teams and individuals from around the region will take to the mats in an early season tournament that begins at 9 a.m. Tickets for that event are $15 for adults, $5 for students and can be bought at Ticketmaster.com. For updated brackets throughout the day, go to the tournament web site at http://hokieopen.com/. Live results, brackets and updates will also be available through the website.
Below are Tech’s probable entries for Sunday’s Hokie Open. A few Tech wrestlers still recovering from surgeries - like seventh-ranked Jesse Dong and 14th-ranked David Marone - are close to being 100 percent, but will not compete this weekend as a precaution.
