BLACKSBURG - The 12th-ranked Virginia Tech wrestling team rebounded from a tough loss Friday to beat No. 25 Wisconsin and Manchester Sunday inside Cassell Coliseum, winning 32-6 and 53-0.

The Hokies (2-1) got off to a strong start, rolling past No. 25 Wisconsin, 32-6, in their first match of the day. Jarrod Garnett and Jesse Dong both picked up technical falls while fourth-ranked Pete Yates got a first-period pin. Nick Vetterlein earned a major decision while Erik Spjut, Zach Neibert, Nick Brascetta and Austin Gabel all picked up victories. The big win of the day came at 141 pounds, where Neibert, ranked 11th in the country, scored a takedown late to beat fourth-ranked Tyler Graff, 4-3.

In the second match of the day, the Hokies wrestled several backups, but it didn’t matter as they shut out Division III Manchester, 53-0. Matt Peters got things started with a technical fall and then Spjut picked up a pin. Neibert (tech fall) and Brascetta (fall) each picked up wins and then Lex Ozias earned a major decision. David Bergida and Huston Evans both picked up pins and then Sam Law won by technical fall to make it 43-0. Derrick Borlie picked up a major decision and then Dan Garwood ended things with a pin.

Tech will be back in action next Sunday, hosting in-state rival Virginia at noon inside Cassell Coliseum.
