RICHMOND, Va. (hokiesports.com) - Five Virginia Tech wrestlers competed at the National Collegiate Open Sunday inside the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond, marking the end of the open tournament season. Chris Moon led the way with a title at 165 pounds while Ty Walz (third at heavyweight), Chris Penny (fourth at heavyweight), Brooks Morrison (fourth at 174 pounds) and Sal Mastriani (fifth at 157 pounds) also placed.
Moon went 5-0 in claiming the title, beating Tyler Buckwalter of Kent State by a fall in just 11 seconds in the finals.
