GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech student-athletes Brayden Burleigh, Will Mulherin and Alex Watt were to this year's 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men' and Women's Cross Country teams as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford. The two teams were comprised of 23 All-Region performers, 15 All-ACC honorees and nine All-Americans.

Burleigh, a university studies major, produced his best race of his career at the perfect time. Due to an injury at the last minute, the sophomore moved into the Hokies lineup for the ACC Championships where he finished sixth to earn All-ACC honors and help the Virginia Tech men earn their first-ever ACC team title.

Mulherin, a mechanical engineering major, capped off one of the most storied seasons in the history of the program by becoming the only male cross country runner at Tech to be a two-time All-American. The redshirt-senior led the way for the Hokies all season, particularly in the post season as he became the first Hokie to win an individual ACC Championship. He also went on to earn All-Region honors at the Southeast Regional, the second of his career.

Alex Watt, an interior design major, had her best meet at the Charlotte Invitational as she finished 10th. At Pre-nationals, she recorded a season-best 6k time of 21:41.7 at Pre-Nationals.
