Tuesday's Game: The Hokies face the North Carolina Tar Heels in the second game of the play-in portion of the ACC Baseball Championship. The winner of the 3 p.m. contest will move on into pool play and face Louisville, Florida State and Clemson over the next three days.

Same place, same team, different year: The last time the Virginia Tech baseball team played a game in Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Hokies were facing the Tar Heels in the 2013 ACC Baseball Championship Game. Tech swept through Pool B - beating Virginia (10-1), Florida State (3-2) and Georgia Tech (3-2), before falling to North Carolina, 4-1 in that year’s title game.

History in the ACC Championship: This will be the Hokies’ fourth time in the ACC postseason tournament, as they previously made it after the 2005, 2010 and 2013 regular seasons. Tech’s combined record in the tournament is 5-3 and the team has only lost its first game in its first appearance back in 2005, when they lost to Maryland, 5-4, in the opener.

Some old veterans: This will be the second ACC Championship appearance for five members of the Hokies’ roster. Seniors Sean Keselica (.308, 4 hits, 1 double, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 3 BBs), Alex Perez (.308, 4 hits, 1 double, 1 run, 1 RBI, 3 BBs), Kyle Wernicki (.250, 3 hits, 2 runs) and Brendon Hayden (.200, 3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 runs, 1 RBI) all started four games in the 2013 tournament. Junior Matt Dauby appeared in two games off the bench and got just one at bat. No one of the current roster saw action on the mound, as Tech used just six pitchers during that week.
