Career Highlights: Became first Hokie pitcher since Larry Bowles (May 1, 1999 at Duquesne) to pick up a win as a starting pitcher and hit a home run in the same game when he did it on March 19, 2013 against Liberty … Also, became for Tech pitcher since Bowles to surpass 100 career innings pitched and 100 career hits ... Is the first Tech player to surpass 150 in each category (169.2 IP/176 H) ... Became the third Tech pitcher to earn two ACC Pitcher of the Week honors joining Ryan Kennedy (2x, 2005) and Justin Wright (3x, 2009 and 2x in 2010) ... Has nine career game-winning RBIs and seven career game-winning runs scored … The RBIs include a double in the 11th frame scoring the go-ahead run in a win at No. 27 Virginia on March 9, 2012 and a walk-off single in an 11-10 victory over Pittsburgh on March 15, 2014 ... Had been intentionally walked four times and was 5-for-9 in his career as a pinch hitter.

2015: at the plate – Started 31 games – 15 as the DH, nine at first base and seven in left field – and played in 37 total games … Had nine multi-hit games, including one with four hits … Fourth on the team with six multi-RBI games, including two with at least three and had one multi-run scoring game … During the year, had a six-game hitting streak, ended the season with it, and reached base in 12 straight games, and ended the season with a streak of 11 straight … Batted .313 with 36 hits, including seven doubles, for 43 total bases and a .374 slugging percentage … Scored 11 runs and added 19 RBIs … Drew 13 walks and was hit by three pitches for a .394 on-base percentage … Also had one sacrifice fly, was 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts and as a pinch hitter, went 1-for-2 with a single and walk.

on the mound – Started all 12 games he pitched, a team high … Had a team-best 3.47 ERA and 72.2 innings thrown, while striking out 55 batters (third on the team), walked 30, and posted a 5-4 record (tied for most wins) … Was second on the team with five quality starts … Opponents hit .242 against him (second lowest on the team) … Struck out at least four batters 10 times, including a season-high nine (twice) against Clemson on March 20 and at Florida State on March 27 … Pitched a team-high 54 scoreless innings, including a team-high 16.0 consecutive … Also, threw 16 perfect frames and, at one point, retired 11 straight batters … Had a team-best 11 double plays turned behind him, all GDPs … In the NCAA, tied for 194th in complete games ... His four wins in ACC play was one shy of tying for the most ever in single-season at the school.

2014: at the plate – One of four Hokies to start all 53 games – 30 at first, 17 as the DH, 12 on the mound and six in left field … Had 16 multi-hit games, including three games with three hits, nine multi-RBI games, including one with four and one with a team season-high five, and three multi-run scoring games … Had a seven-game hitting streak and ended the season with a six-gamer, while posting a 13-game reached base streak and ending with seven straight … Batted .274 with 55 hits, including 10 doubles (tied for second on team) and a triple, for 67 total bases and a .333 slugging percentage … Scored 25 runs and knocked in 36 more … Drew 23 walks, including two intentional, and was hit by four pitches for a .355 on-base percentage … Was 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

on the mound – Started 12 games and appeared in 13 total … Posted a 3-5 record with one complete game … Had a 4.65 ERA in a total of 62.0 innings (second on team) and struck out 39 batters (third) … Opponents batted just .278 against him … Registered four quality starts (second) and went at least seven innings three times … Struck out at least two batters in 10 appearances, five or more four times … Pitched a total of 41 scoreless innings, including a 7.2 consecutive, and struck out the side once … Also, threw 12 perfect frames and, at one point, retired seven straight hitters ... Had 5 double plays turned behind him, three of which were GDPs.

2013: at the plate – Made 54 starts – 45 at first, nine as the DH and four on the mound – and played in 57 games total … Had 16 multi-hit games, including four games with three hits and one with four, six multi-RBI games and 13 multi-run scoring games, which tied for third on the team … Was fourth on the team with a 10-game hitting streak and ended the season with an eight-game reached base streak … Batted .307 with 67 hits, including 11 doubles, one triple and five home runs for 95 total bases and a .436 slugging percentage … Scored 40 runs (fourth on the team) and knocked in 31 more … Drew 16 walks and was hit by six pitches for a .368 on-base percentage … Was 2-for-7 on stolen base attempts.

on the mound – Appeared in 11 games making four starts … Posted a 2-1 record with one combined shutout … Had a 4.55 ERA in a total of 31.2 innings and struck out 22 batters … In his four starts, had a 4.08 ERA in 17.2 innings and opponents hit just .278 against him … Threw at least 2.0 innings in five relief outings and did not allow an earned run in three of them … Struck out at least two batters seven times, including a high of six … Pitched a total of 22 scoreless innings, including a season-high eight consecutive … Also, threw four perfect frames and, at one point, retired a career-high six straight hitters.

2012: at the plate – Made 16 starts – nine at first, four as DH and three in right – and played in 27 games total … Posted four multi-hit games, including one game with three hits … Also had a multi-run and a multi-RBI game, while posting a reached base streak of seven during the season … Batted .277 with 18 hits, including three doubles for 21 total bases and a .323 slugging percentage … Scored nine runs and drove in six … Drew nine walks, had a .373 on-base percentage and stole one base … As a pinch hitter, had a team-high four hits in five at-bats and also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch.

on the mound – Appeared in four games, all out of the pen… Threw a total of 3.1 innings, struck out one batter and allowed just one unearned run (0.00 ERA) … Opponents batted just .250 against him.

High School: Earned three varsity letters playing for Coach Sparky Mattson at Voorhees … Senior year included a 10-1 record (set school record for wins in a single season) with a 1.16 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 60.1 innings … Also batted .435 with six home runs (school record), 10 doubles, 28 runs scored and 24 RBIs … Helped the Vikings to the Skyland Conference Division crown and the semifinals of the Central Group 2 playoffs … In 2011, named first-team all-state, all-group 2, all-west Jersey, all-conference, all-county and all-area, and was the Express Times and Hunterdon Democrat player of the year … Threw a no-hitter during the season with 12 strikeouts and threw a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts in the division title game … For his career, batted .416 with 17 home runs (school record), 19 doubles, 64 runs scored and 61 RBIs … On the mound, set school records in career wins (15) and strikeouts (197) … In all was a three-time all-group 2, all-conference and all-county, and a two-time all-west Jersey and all-area … Also earned three varsity letters for the Viking basketball team – averaged 20 points per game as a senior and was a two-time first-team all-conference – and played two seasons of soccer.
