BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team hosts No. 7/8 Louisville on Thursday, Feb. 19 in the Hokies final home game of the season. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies will recognize senior guard Kelsey Conyers as well as managers Tamara Brown and Maggie Childress prior to tipoff.

THE HOKIES (10-16, 1-12 ACC)
Virginia Tech fell the last time out as No. 23/22 Syracuse rallied to claim the win. Vanessa Panousis tallied 18 points for the Hokies while Hannah Young added nine points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds.
The Hokies led 24-19 at the break. Syracuse took a 1-point lead early in the second half, but Tech reclaimed the advantage moments later. Virginia Tech was up 50-43 with just over four minutes to play before the Orange offense went to work, going on a 16-1 run to close out the game and secure the win.
Panousis leads the Hokies on the season in scoring with 13.2 points per game and handing out 3.3 assists per game. The sophomore guard is third on the ACC list for three-pointers made, averaging 2.4 per game. Rachel Camp is chipping in 12.6 ppg. In addition Camp’s 6.2 rpg is good for 19th in the league. Taijah Campbell leads the team with 7.1 rebounds (13th most in the league) while adding 7.8 ppg.
THE CARDINALS (22-3, 10-2 ACC)
Louisville came from behind to defeat North Carolina 75-66 in the team’s last game, outscoring the Tar Heels 43-31 in the second half. Mariya Moore led the Cardinals with 28 points. Myisha Hines-Allen added 13 points and Sara Hammond grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
UNC was up by three at the break and led by as many as nine in the second frame. Louisville chipped away at the lead and tied it up at 60 with just over six minutes to play. The teams were tied up again with 4:38 remaining, but the Cardinals used a 13-4 run in the final minutes to take the game.
Moore leads the Cardinals on the season with 14.1 points per game and has handed out a team-high 98 assists. Hines-Allen is adding 12.3 ppg and Hammond 11.2 ppg while grabbing 6.8 rpg.
THE SERIES
Virginia Tech leads the series 17-15, and won the last time the two teams met, almost 20 years ago to the day. The Hokies took the 68-60 decision over the Cardinals on February 26, 1995 in Blacksburg. Former Tech players Angela Donnell, Jenny Root and Christi Osborne led the Hokies with 18, 17 and 12 points, respectively.
The two teams have a long history, having been a part of the Metro Conference at the same time. Louisville and Virginia Tech first met in 1981.
