BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to host Wake Forest on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. In addition, the game will be aired on television through RSN/Fox and will be available on ESPN3.

THE HOKIES (9-10, 0-6 ACC)
Hannah Young led Virginia Tech in the team’s last outing as the Hokies fell to No. 20/19 Florida State. Young tallied a career-high 19 points, shooting 53 percent from the field, including a trio of three pointers. Taijah Campbell added 11 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
The teams kept it close early in the first half with the Hokies trailing by nine just past the midway point. The Seminoles used a late run to take at 32-14 lead into the break. FSU extended its lead coming out of the break to 22, but Tech went to work, going on a 19-4 run to cut it to 40-31 with 11:36 to go. The ‘Noles answered, outscoring Tech 11-2 to pull ahead 51-33. Virginia Tech got it down to a 12-point difference, but that is as close as the Hokies got the rest of the way.
Rachel Camp is leading the Hokies on the season, averaging 15.5 points per game and currently ranks 10th in the ACC in scoring. In addition, Camp along with Taijah Campbell are pulling down 6.7 rebounds per game. Vanessa Panousis is adding 13.9 points (18th in the ACC) and handing out 3.5 assists per game to rank ninth in the conference. The sophomore guard is also third on the ACC list for three-pointers made, averaging 2.6.
THE DEMON DEACONS (9-10, 0-5 ACC)
Wake Forest fell to NC State at home, 78-70, the last time out. Four players recorded double-digits for the Deacons with Dearica Hamby leading the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Amber Campbell added 16 points while Kelila Atkinson and Mykia Jones tallied 10 points each.
The Deacons had a 36-30 lead at the break, but the Wolfpack used a strong second half to pull out the win, forcing Wake into 13 turnovers for 15 points. NC State outscored Wake Forest 48-34 in the second period to secure the win.
Hamby leads Wake Forest on the season, averaging 20.7 points per game to rank second in the ACC. In addition, she is pulling down 10.4 rebounds per game, ranking third in the league and is one of four players in the ACC averaging a double-double. Campbell is adding 11.3 ppg and leads the team with 32 steals this season (10th in the ACC).
THE SERIES
Wake Forest holds the 12-10 lead in the series and won the game last season in Winston-Salem, 65-64. The game was close throughout with the Hokies holding the largest lead, up 12 in the first half. Tech led by three at the break. Wake went up in the second half, but the Hokies were on top 64-63 with 18 seconds to go following a Panousis three-pointer. The Deacons hit a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining, giving the Hokies a chance for a last second shot, but the jumper fell just short as Wake held on for the win.
Panousis had 21 points for the Hokies and Young added 17 points, nine rebounds. Hamby tallied 24 points for the Deacons with Millesa Calicott adding 12.
