BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to host No. 20/19 Florida State on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum.

THE HOKIES (9-9 0-5 ACC)
Vanessa Panousis led Virginia Tech in the team’s last outing as the Hokies fell to Duke. Panousis tallied 14 points. Hannah Young added nine points while Rachel Camp tallied eight points. Taijah Campbell grabbed seven rebounds.

The teams kept it close early in the first half with the Hokies on top 16-13 with 13:05 on the clock. Duke responded with a 17-0 run over the next seven minutes to go up 30-16 with 6:26 to go in the half. Tech trailed by 14 with four minutes to go, but was able to cut it down to single-digits (33-24) with 2:43 left. Duke scored the final four points taking a 37-24 lead into the break. Tech cut it to 11 coming out of the break, but the Hokies would get no closer than 16 the rest of the way as Duke took the win.

Camp is leading the Hokies on the season, averaging 16.2 points per game and currently ranks eighth in the ACC in scoring and is the top freshman in the league. In addition, Camp is pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game, ranking 12th in the league while Taijah Campbell is grabbing 6.5 rpg. Panousis is adding 13.9 points (18th in the ACC) and handing out 3.5 assists per game to rank nith in the conference. The sophomore guard is also third on the ACC list for three-pointers made, averaging 2.6.

THE SEMINOLES (16-2, 3-1 ACC)
Florida State, ranked 20th in the AP Poll and 19th in the Coaches’, defeated Pitt at home, 58-43, the last time out. Leticia Romero tallied 19 points for the Seminoles while Shakayla Thomas recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

FSU held a big 32-14 lead at the break, but Pitt actually outscored the ‘Noles in the second half, 29-26. It wasn’t enough to overcome the first half deficit.

The Seminoles have five players averaging double-digits on the season. Adut Bulgak leads the team with 14.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Romero is adding 13.0 ppg, Megan Conwrite is tallying 11.5 ppg and Ivey Slaughter is chipping in 11.4 ppg. Thomas rounds out the scoring with 10.1 ppg.

THE SERIES
Florida State leads the series 22-10 and picked up a win last season in Tallahassee. Former Hokies Uju Ugoka and Monet Tellier led Tech with 22 and 14 points, respectively. FSU’s Slaughter is the top returner from the game, having recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Hokies claimed the win 71-52 the last time in the two teams met in Blacksburg. Tellier and Ugoka led Tech in that game as well, combining for 45 points.

Up Next: The Hokies remain at home to host Wake Forest on Friday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. in a TV game on RSN/Fox.
