Virginia Tech defeated Longwood, 70-45 the last time out as freshman Rachel Camp tallied her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Vanessa Panousis added 13 points while Hannah Young, Dominique Powell and freshman Lindsey Oblitey dropped in seven points each. Every Tech player who appeared in the game got on the board.

The Hokies dominated from the beginning after getting out with a 12-0 run, Tech kept its momentum going in the first half to take a 39-14 lead into the break. In the second half, the Hokies pushed its lead to 30 in the opening eight minutes and took its largest lead (35) at the 5:26 mark after Kelsey Conyers drained a three to push it to 70-35. Virginia Tech connected on 47.5 percent from the field and dominated on the boards with 45 rebounds to Longwood’s 27.

Camp is leading the Hokies on the season, averaging 15.2 points per game and currently ranks 10th in the ACC in scoring. Regan Magarity is one of four players in the ACC averaging a double-double with 14.0 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, but has been sidelined the past four games with an injury. Panousis is adding 12.1 points and handing out 3.6 assists per game.

THE EAGLES
North Carolina Central fell on the road to Howard, 70-65, earlier in the week in the MEAC’s conference opening weekend. Three players hit double-digits for the Eagles as Racquel Davis tallied 24 points while pulling down 12 rebounds. Morgan Jones and Khyra Conerly tallied 12 points each.

NC Central trailed by seven (40-33) at the break, but outscored Howard 32-30 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome the Bison’s lead.

Davis leads the Eagles with 17.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while also having tallied 11 blocks and 12 steals. Jones and Conerly are both just shy of averaging double-digit points with 9.9 ppg each.
