BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to host Northwestern on Thursday, Dec. 4 as part of the 2015 ACC/BigTen Challenge. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum.

THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech fell to Florida 73-44 the last time out. Rachel Camp led all scorers in the game with 21 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. Hannah Young added eight points and seven rebounds.
The Hokies trailed by just nine at the half, down 31-22, but the Gators used an 18-5 run coming out of the break to pull away for good.
Camp is leading the Hokies on the season, averaging 16.3 points per game and currently ranks 10th in the ACC in scoring. Regan Magarity is one of four players in the ACC averaging a double-double with 14.0 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, but has been sidelined the past two games with an injury.
Vanessa Panousis is adding 11.0 points and handing out 3.9 assists per game, ranking seventh in the league. Taijah Campbell is tallying 7.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
THE WILDCATS
Northwestern upset 18th ranked DePaul the last time out, claiming a 97-91 decision in double overtime. Nia Coffey had 23 points with Maggie Lyon just behind, tallying 21. Ashley Deary tallied 19 points and Lauren Douglas chipped in 15 while grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double.
The Wildcats led 38-36 at the break, but DePaul held the two point scoring advantage in the second half to send the game into overtime. Both teams tallied nine points in the first overtime, but Northwestern held the 15-9 advantage in the second overtime to secure the win.
Coffey is averaging a double-double to lead the Wildcats this season with 16.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Lyon is adding 15.4 ppg and Deary is chipping in 11.2 ppg. Christen Inman rounds out the double-digit scorers for the Wildcats with 10.2 ppg. Deary also leads the team in assists and steals with 20 and 26, respectively, in the first five games.
THE SERIES
Virginia Tech and Northwestern have met just twice previously and are tied at 1-1 in the all-time series, but the two teams have not met in almost 30 years. The Hokies won the first meeting between the two teams when the Wildcats came to Cassell Coliseum on Dec. 22, 1983 by a score of 85-77. The Wildcats won in 1986 in Norfolk, Va., 70-64.
THE CHALLENGE
Both Virginia Tech and Northwestern are 2-5 in the ACC/BigTen Challenge. The Wildcats fell to NC State last season, 76-61 while the Hokies’ rally fell short at Indiana, 71-65.
