Hokies host Washington & Lee as part of 'Open Cassell'
Get an early look at the 2014-15 team during exhibition game

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Get your first glimpse of the 2014-15 Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball team as they host Washington & Lee in an exhibition game as part of the “Open Cassell” event on November 10 at 7 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum.

The Hokies return six players from last season’s team that finished with a 14-16 record and a 4-12 mark in the league. Virginia Tech returns three starters, including point guard Vanessa Panousis who was second on the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game. The Hokies also return Hannah Young with 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as well as Taijah Campbell who tallied 5.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and led the team with 45 blocks on the season. Kelsey Conyers, Samantha Hill and Tara Nahodil also return for the 2014-15 campaign.

Joining them on the roster this season are seven newcomers as Regan Magarity, Rachel Camp, Dominique Powell, Brielle Blaire, Khadedra Croker, Lindsey Oblitey and Sidney Cook have been added for this season. Cook is a transfer from Seton Hall and will have to sit out due to NCAA rules.

Washington & Lee is a member of the Old Dominion Conference where they were picked to finish ninth in the league. The Generals return 13 players and add five newcomers for 2014-15 to a team that finished 6-19 last season.

The open-house style event is free admission and free parking. Arrive early for photos with the HokieBird and Virginia Tech Spirit Squads on the concourse pre-game.

Fans are encouraged to stick around after the exhibition game to attend a meet-and-greet with the team in the Bowman Room. Complimentary beverages and pizza will be provided, courtesy of the Hokie Hardwood Club.
