ROANOKE, Va. – Grant Pollock set a new school record in the men's 800-meter to highlight a few quality performances for the Hokies at the VT/Roanoke Distance Challenge on Thursday evening.
The Hokies swept the top four spots in the men’s 800-meter race. Grant Pollock won with a time of 1:48.44, setting a new school record besting the previous mark of 1:48.5 set by Tim Crossin in 1982. Prince Owusu posted a time of 1:49.65 for a second-place finish while Patrick Joseph (1:51.58) and Martin Dally (1:52.37) finished in third and fourth places respectively.
In the men’s 1500-meter run, Leoule Degfae won with a time of 3:49.44. Stuart Robinson finished in second place with a time of 3:52.98.
In the women’s 800-meter race, Tech claimed the two top spots with Shannon Morton winning the race with a time of 2:07.88 and Katarina Smiljanec finishing in second with a time of 2:08.22.
The Hokies will be back in action on May 16 when they head to both the Georgia Tech Invitational and the NC State Last Chance Meet.
