RADFORD, Va. – Several Hokies put in quality performances as they competed in both the Highlander Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, Shannon Morton won the women’s 800-meter race with a time of 2:09.39 while teammate Hanna Green finished in second place with a time of 2:10.41. Katarina Smiljanec completed the one-two-three sweep for the Hokies finishing in third with a time of 2:11.40.

Amanda Smith won the women’s 1500-meter run with a time of 4:26.41 while teammate Sarah Rapp earned a second-place finish with a time of 4:27.64.

Competing unattached, Irena Sediva won the women’s javelin throw with a mark of 173’00” (52.73m). Sarah Kadelka finished in third with a throw of 135’6” (41.31m).

On the men’s side, the Hokies swept the top-three positions in the men’s 800-meter race. Prince Owusu won with a time of 1:51.70. Martin Dally finished in second with a time of 1:51.79 while Vince Ciattei placed third with a time of 1:53.43.

Leoule Degfae won the men’s 1500-meter race with a time of 3:52.35 while teammate Stuart Robertson finished in second with a time of 3:55.00.

In the men’s pole vault, Torben Laidig won with a mark of 16’7” (5.07m). Brad Johnson finished in second hitting a height of 16’1” (4.91m). Matt Hoogland finished in fourth with a mark of 15’3” (4.65m).

Competing unattached, Marek Barta won the men’s discus throw with a throw of 182’1 (55.50m).

Tomas Kruzliak finished second in the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 220’00” (67.07m) only behind former Hokie and national champion Alexander Ziegler.

The Hokies will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Mississippi State Invitational and the Payton Jordan Invitational.
