Hokies close out competitive weekend
Tech grabs three first-place finsishes

Gainesville, Fla., Williamsburg, Va., and Auburn, Ala. – The Virginia Tech track & field team closed out the weekend with some quality performances at the Colonial Relays, Florida Relays and the Tiger Track Classic.

At the Colonial Relays, Johnna Dominick set a new personal record hitting 5’08” (1.73m) in the women’s high jump en route to a second-place finish.

The women’s distance medley relay team comprised of Sarah Rapp, Paige Kvartunas, Katarina Smiljanec and Abigail Motley earned a first-place finish after posting a time of 11:47.73.

The men’s 4x800 team consisting of Martin Dally, Vince Ciattei, Patrick Joseph and Grant Pollock finished in first place with a time of 7:30.68.

The men’s distance medley relay team of George Carter, Prince Owusu, Juan Campos and Leoule Degfae earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 10:11.41.

Competing at the Florida Relays, Annjulie Vester finished in 5th place in the women’s hammer throw with a mark of 194’09” (59.36m).

In the women’s pole vault at the Tiger Track Classic, Leigh Allin, Kristen Lee and Erin Schaal all finished in the top 10. Allin and Lee tied for third with a mark of 12’01.50” (3.70m) and Schaal finished in ninth with a personal best mark of 11’07.75” (3.55m)

Also competing at the Tiger Track Classic in the men’s pole vault, Stephan Munz won with a mark of 17’08.50” (5.40m). Torben Laidig finished in third with a mark of 17’04.50 (5.30m) and Jared Allison finished in sixth with a mark of 16’06.75 (5.05m).

The Hokies will be back in action next weekend as they travel to the Sea Ray Relays.
