PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – In the first event of the 119th Penn Relays, Leah Nugent claimed the top spot in section three of the of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 59.61. The sophomore ultimately would finish eighth overall, just under two seconds back of first.
Nugent was the only Hokie to compete on day one of the historic three-day event. She will be back on the track tomorrow in the 100-meter hurdles at 4 p.m. Also competing for Tech will be Jeff Artis-Gray in the long jump at 2:30 p.m., and the 110-meter hurdles at 3:50 p.m.
Saturday will feature ACC champion Ronnie Black as he takes on several of the top-ranked high jumpers in the NCAA at 1:30 p.m.
