During JMU’s 2013-14 campaign, she helped the Dukes to one of the most successful seasons in program history as JMU tied a school record 29 wins and advanced to the postseason for the ninth consecutive season. Brown played for the Dukes from 2006-08, helping JMU to a 51-16 record, a trip to the NCAA Tournament and a trip to the WNIT during her two seasons. In her junior season in 2006-07, JMU compiled a 27-6 record, was runner-up in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and was ranked as high as 22nd in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and as high as 25th in the USA Today Top 25 poll. As a senior in 2007-08, Brown was a starting forward on the Dukes' team that put together a 24-10 record, advanced to the round of 16 of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, and received votes during the season in both Top 25 polls.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in justice studies in 2007 and a master’s in kinesiology in 2008, both from JMU. In addition, Brown is a 2013 graduate of the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy and attended the ACA Forum in 2015.
