GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference and Commissioner John D. Swofford announced the 2011 All-ACC Academic Softball Team, and seven Hokies were named to the team, the second-highest total among the eight participating schools.
Making the team for the Hokies were, in alphabetical order, freshman Dani Anderson, junior Marra Hvozdovic, sophomore Courtney Liddle, senior Richelle McGarva, sophomore Betty Rose, sophomore Bkaye Smith and senior Ashton Ward. For Liddle, McGarva and Ward, it marked their second appearance on the squad. Anderson and Liddle both made the All-ACC squad while Rose, Liddle and Anderson were all named to the all-region team. Liddle was named an academic all-region selection, as well.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. To view the complete team, click here.
