Several Hokies to play for Virginia Renegades against NPF Champion Chicago
Bandits feature gold medalist Jennie Finch in the circle

BLACKSBURG - Five current or former Virginia Tech softball players will suit up for the Virginia Renegades when they welcome the Chicago Bandits of the National Pro FastPitch League (NPF) for an exhibition softball game on Saturday, June 19. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Moyer Softball Complex in Salem, Va.

Current players Bkaye Smith and Sarah Ashby, along with former Hokies Whitney Davis, Amber Walker and Beth Walker will take on the Bandits. Assistant coaches for the Renegades include former Tech players Jennifer McKibben and Beth (Drombetta) Mast.

The Renegades U-23 Summer Travel team roster features several local standouts from the Commonwealth, consisting of collegiate athletes from Radford University, Virginia Tech, Roanoke College, Elon, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Wingate.

Also competing for the Renegades are ACC players Michelle Snyder, Sarah Hamilton and Jen Lapicky from Florida State and Danielle Dike from Georgia Tech.

The Bandits, bolstered by world renowned U.S. gold medalist Jennie Finch, are the 2008 NPF Champions, and under the direction of Radford head coach Mickey Dean.
