CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - A two-run home run from Misty Hall in the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie as the Virginia Tech softball team rallied for an 8-2 win over Boston College Sunday on a beautiful day at Shea Field to wrap up the series.

The Hokies got on the board first, plating a run in the second inning. Whitney Davis singled and Courtney Liddle drew a walk. Pinch runners Stephanie Kujawa and Ella Miller moved up on Ashton Ward’s sacrifice bunt and then Kujawa scored on a ground ball from Kristin Graham.

Boston College plated a run in the third inning on a single, but a double play ended the inning and a threat for more runs. In the fourth inning, Renee Ramos crushed an offering from Kenzie Roark for her 11th home run of the season to make it 2-1. That forced a pitching change as Jasmin Harrell took the circle for the Hokies.

Down to their final six outs, the Hokies scratched and clawed to tie up the game in the sixth inning. Davis walked, Ward singled and Graham walked to load the bases for pinch hitter Kelsey Hensel. After fouling off several pitches on a 3-2 count, she drew ball four from Nicole D’Argento to tie the game up.

After wiggling out of a jam in the sixth inning, Tech went to work to win it in the seventh inning by scoring six runs. Richelle McGarva singled up the middle to lead off and then Hall tattooed a pitch to dead center field for a two-run shot to make it 4-2. The home run was a historic one in Tech history as it marked the first time in program history Tech has had two players hit 10 or more home runs in the same season. Hall now has 10 and Liddle leads the way with a freshman-record 11.

After Kristen Froehlich singled, pinch runner Sarah Ashby stole second base and moved up to third base on a wild pitch. She then scored on Davis’ third single of the game. Liddle walked and then Graham launched her third home run of the season, a three-run shot to put the game out of reach.

Roark went three plus innings, allowing two runs on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Harrell (W, 11-10) pitched the final four innings, allowing no runs on two hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Davis had a trio of singles and Graham had two hits while Hall, McGarva, Froehlich and Ward each had one.

Tech finishes ACC play with an 8-13 mark while Boston College falls to 1-17 with one series left.

Virginia Tech is now done with its regular season and will wait to see when it plays in the ACC Championship, which starts on Friday, May 14 and will be played at Tech Softball Park. The Maryland/BC series next weekend will finalize things, but unless BC sweeps the Terps (7-10), Tech will be the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 seed Virginia at 2:30 p.m. on May 16.
