BLACKSBURG - The Hokies head to Roanoke on Thursday for the annual Maroon & Orange Intersquad scrimmage, official opening the 2015-16 season for Hokie fans.
The Hokies will hit the mat at 6 p.m. at Northside High School in Roanoke to give fans a taste of what they can expect from the #5/6 ranked program, coming off a program-best ninth place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships. The event is $5 at the door, cash only, and the Hokies will head to a local restaurant for a social event afterwards.
“I know our guys are excited to get in some singlets in a different environment. I am excited to get this guys to Roanoke also," said head coach Kevin Dresser. "The Roanoke community has been a long-time supporter of Virginia Tech Wrestling. Hopefully we can put on a good show, sign some autographs, and get everybody excited about our season opener next Saturday at the Cassell!”
Warmups will begin at 4 p.m. and official weigh ins will get underway at 5 p.m. Wrestle offs will start a hour later at 6.
The Hokies return home to open competition against #20 Iowa State at Cassell Colliseum on Saturday, Nov. 7th.
