BLACKSBURG – Fresh off of a two-game road swing where they brought home two victories, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team is back at home on Carilion Clinic Court on Saturday, Dec. 16 for a 6 p.m. tip with Big South foe High Point.
Prior to tipoff, Chanette Hicks will be honored at midcourt with a special presentation, as she became the program’s all-time leader in steals last week when she recorded her second steal in the win over Chattanooga.
Montgomery County elementary and middle school children will receive complimentary admission to the game with fliers sent home through Montgomery County schools. Following the conclusion of the game, the women's basketball student-athletes will be available to sign autographs on the concourse.

Tech looks to close out the non-conference portion of its schedule with their 36th consecutive victory in Cassell Coliseum against non-conference competition.
Tuesday night on the Jersey Shore, the Hokies dominated Monmouth 84-34, behind Taylor Emery’s second 25-point performance of the season. The junior went to work early, scoring 15 points in the opening quarter knocking down five of six shots.
Tech knocked down 10 or more triples for the fifth time this season and leads the conference in made 3-point field goals with 101.
The offense was not the only thing clicking, as the Hokies held their fifth straight opponent to under 55 points. In the past five games, Tech has held opponents to 44.2 points per game.
The Hokies recorded a season best 10 blocks against the Hawks and had more rebounds, 49-32.
The Panthers: High Point is 4-3 on the season, last competing on Dec. 3, falling to UAB at home 77-61. Kat Harris led all scorers with 29 points, knocking down seven 3-pointers.
On the season, Harris leads four Panthers in double figures, averaging 14.4 points per game. Emma Bockrath averages 12.1 and Camryn Brown leads the team with 18 3-pointers, shooting at .45 percent from behind the arc.
High Point has already seen one ACC team this season, matching up with Duke on Nov. 16 at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke won that contest 77-50.
The series: The Hokies and Panthers have met twice previously, with Tech winning on both occasions. The two schools most recently squared off in 2007 when the Hokies won 103-64 in Cassell Coliseum.
Tech is 66-11 against teams currently in the Big South. On Dec. 3, the Hokies defeated Radford 68-42.
Up next: The Hokies’ next contest will be their ACC opener against the NC State Wolfpack on Dec. 28 after final exams. The game will be the second part of a double-header, with the men’s program hosting North Carolina A&T at noon. Tipoff is slated for 2:30 p.m., and the game can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
The 28th will also be Montgomery County School Day where elementary and middle school students will receive complimentary admission to the game with a flier sent home from their schools.
Fans attending the men’s game against North Carolina A&T will receive free admission to the women’s game by showing their ticket at the Promotions Entrance.
