The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team welcomes the Auburn Tigers to Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum Monday night for a 7 p.m. tip.

The Hokies opened the season on Friday afternoon with a resounding 99-32 victory over Wagner. Taylor Emery, on her Tech debut, led all scorers with 20 points including shooting a 4-for-6 clip from beyond the arc.
Tech’s 67-point margin was the largest in program history.
Scouting Auburn: The matchup with Tech will be the Tigers’ first game of the 2017-18 season. Last year, Auburn finished 17-15 after appearing in the NCAA Tournament’s First Round, falling to NC State 62-48.
Auburn returns three starters from that team, including junior guard Janiah McKay who averaged 12.9 points and 3.4 assists per game.
The series: The Hokies trail the all-time series two games to five. Last season, the 24th-ranked Hokies went in to Auburn Arena and won a 92-87 contest in overtime. Sidney Cook’s 23 points led four Hokies in double figures. Chanette Hicks (18 points, 13 assists) and Regan Magarity (12 points, 10 rebounds) tallied double-doubles.
Up next: The Hokies are back on Carilion Clinic Court on Friday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. when they play host to the USC Upstate Spartans.
