Hill signs professional contract in Germany

BLACKSBURG- Sami Hill has agreed to terms with TH Wohnbau Angels Donau-Ries, a German first division team. Donau-Ries competes in the 12-team Damen Basketball Bundesliga (DBBL). The Bundesliga season tips off in September.

Hill has had an exciting summer as a part of the Canadian Senior National Team. In July, she participated in a two-week training and exhibition tour in China where she played in six games. At its conclusion, Hill secured a roster spot for the 2017 FIBA Americas Women’s Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Canada won the Championship going 6-0, earning a spot in the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in the process. Hill saw playing time in every game, averaging double-digit minutes throughout the group stage. She contributed two points against Cuba and Paraguay and three points and three rebounds against Mexico. In the semifinal round, Hill made a 3-pointer against Brazil.

Hill graduated in May with 85 career 3-pointers, eighth-best in program history. She also earned All-ACC Academic honors in 2017.
