Cook inks pro deal

BLACKSBURG – Former Virginia Tech forward Sidney Cook has signed a contract to play for Enea AZS Poznan in Poland, the club announced Friday. Poznan competes in the 1 Liga Group B, in the second tier of professional Polish basketball.

During her senior season, Cook averaged 12.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, helping the Hokies reach 20-win plateau and the Elite Eight of the WNIT. Her 12 double-doubles on the season ranked third in the ACC and 43rd nationally.

Cook, who recently graduated from Tech with a public relations degree, ranks ninth all-time in program history in rebounds with a 6.5 average.

Cook is the most recent Hokie alum to sign professionally. Earlier this month, Vanessa Panousis signed with the Adelaide Lightning in Australia.
