THE HOKIES (16-12, 3-12 ACC)
Virginia Tech fell to No. 17/17 Miami 79-69 the last time out. Chanette Hicks led the Hokies with 21 points and four assists. Vanessa Panousis added 17 points and grabbed five rebounds while Samantha Hill connected on 10 points. Regan Magarity grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and chipped in eight points.

The Hokies got off to a hot start in the opening quarter, connecting on 43.8 percent from the field, including 5-of-7 from outside the arc. Tech took a 20-11 lead at the end of the frame. Tech led by 10 early in the second, but went a little cold over the next few minutes as Miami worked its way back in to cut it to a 1-point game at the media timeout. The Canes kept their run going and took a 36-29 lead into the break. Tech opened the third quarter with a 14-5 run to reclaim the lead, going on top 43-41 after five minutes, but Miami used a run to lead 53-49 heading into the last frame. The teams kept it close in the fourth with Miami going up by seven before a Tech 3-pointer cut it back to a four-point game. The Canes countered with seven unanswered to take their largest lead 71-60. The Hokies got it back within single-digits, but would pull no closer than seven the rest of the way as the Canes held on for the win.

Hicks leads the Hokies, averaging 16.0 points, 5.1 assists and 3.7 steals per game. Sidney Cook is posting 13.5 ppg and 8.2 rpg. Magarity is averaging 12.8 ppg and 9.4 rebounds per game while Hill is adding 9.8 ppg and Panousis is chipping in 9.2 ppg.

THE EAGLES (9-19, 2-13 ACC)
Boston College dropped an 82-45 decision to No. 5 Notre Dame on Thursday evening. Mariella Fasoula led the Eagles with 14 points and eight rebounds. Taylor Ortlepp tallied eight points for BC.

Notre Dame used a 14-2 run go up 14-9 midway through the first quarter and was on top 26-14 at the end of the frame. Boston College was unable to get a run going in the second as the Irish led 51-31 at the break. The Irish kept their momentum going, holding the Eagles to just 14 points in the second half of the game as ND secured the win.

Fasoula leads the Eagles, averaging 15.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Kelly Hughes is adding 11.0 points per game. Georgia Pineau is handing out 2.9 assists per game and grabbing 5.5 boards.

THE SERIES
This is the 25th meeting between the two teams and the first this season. The two teams met twice last year with the Hokies winning the regular season game 58-33 in Blacksburg. Boston College avenged that loss later in the season with a 49-37 decision in the opening round of the ACC Tournament.

In the game in Blacksburg, Hicks had 11 points while Panousis tallied 10 points and five assists for the Hokies. Magarity grabbed 10 rebounds. Hughes notched 11 points for the Eagles.

Hicks again led Tech in the contest in Greensboro, tallying 11 points while Cook chipped in seven. Hughes was the top scorer for the Eagles in that game as well with 12 while Fasoula tallied nine.
