BLACKSBURG - The No. 15/16 Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set for a top-25 match-up as the Hokies face No. 14/14 Miami on the road Wednesday, Jan. 11. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Watsco Arena.

THE HOKIES (15-0, 2-0 ACC)
Virginia Tech moved to 15-0 the season after defeating Clemson, 78-69, on the road. Chanette Hicks and Samantha Hill each had 16 points to lead the Hokies while Hicks also tallied four assists and three steals. Regan Magarity recorded her third consecutive double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Sidney Cook added 13 points and eight boards.
The Hokies and Tigers kept it close to open the game and were tied at 9-9 in the first quarter before Tech went on a 10-0 run to push the lead. Clemson cut it two, but the Hokies again went on a run, outscoring the Tigers 14-4 to open the second frame. The Tigers got it under single-digits before halftime, but Tech led 39-32 at the break. Coming back out in the third, the Hokies again took the lead, going up by 16 midway through the frame and were up by 12 at the end of the quarter. Clemson looked to make a run in the final minutes, cutting it to six, but the Hokies went 5-of-6 from the line to help seal the win.
Hicks leads the Hokies, averaging 16.3 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 steals per game. Cook is posting 14.5 ppg and 9.7 rpg. Magarity is averaging 13.5 ppg and 9.8 rebounds per game while Hill is adding 10.5 ppg. Vanessa Panousis it chipping in 10.0 ppg.
Virginia Tech is currently one of three teams in the NCAA unbeaten along with UConn and Mississippi State.
THE HURRICANES (13-3, 2-2 ACC)
Miami fell to No. 7/6 Notre Dame 67-55 at home on Sunday afternoon. Jessica Thomas led the Hurricanes with 15 points while Adrienne Motley chipped in 14. Emese Hof came off the bench for 11 points and a team-best six rebounds.
Miami trailed the Irish by just one at the break as Notre Dame held the 30-29 lead. The third quarter proved crucial for the Irish as they outscored the Hurricanes 21-15 in the frame. Notre Dame held the advantage in the final quarter as well 16-11. The Irish shot 51.7 percent from the field in the second half while holding Miami to 34.5 percent.
Motley leads the Canes with 12.7 ppg with Thomas adding 12.6 ppg. Keyona Hayes is pulling down a team-high 6.4 rpg and adding 8.5 ppg.
THE SERIES
This marks the 23rd meeting between the Hokies and Hurricanes with Miami holding a 16-6 advantage in the series. Miami won the most recent meeting in Coral Gables last season 67-56 in overtime.
Cook led the Hokies with 17 points and tallied nine rebounds while former Tech player Hannah Young added 15 points. Hof had 15 points for the Hurricanes and Motley tallied 12.
Up Next: Virginia Tech will return to Cassell Coliseum to host Wake Forest on Monday, Jan. 16. Game time is set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on RSN.
