Hicks named espnW's National Player of the Week
Tech guard led Hokies to two wins, including a victory over No. 17/16 Tennessee

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech sophomore guard Chanette Hicks has been named the espnW National Player of the Week as voted on by ESPN analysts.
On Sunday, Virginia Tech knocked off Tennessee for the second year in a row, posting a 67-63 victory in Blacksburg, Virginia. Hicks had 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting, with three assists and a career-high eight steals. The Hokies capitalized on defense, scoring 21 points off Tennessee's 21 turnovers. Hicks had 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting, with three assists and six steals in the win over the Cougars earlier in the week.
Voting on espnW weekly honors are Charlie Creme, Graham Hays and Mechelle Voepel. Also nominated this week were Nia Coffey, Northwestern; Tori Jankoska, Michigan State; Alexis Jones, Baylor; and Kelsey Plum, Washington.
