Virginia Tech to host Georgetown on Sunday

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team is set to host Georgetown on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum.

THE HOKIES (1-0)
Virginia Tech opened the season with a 71-52 win over UNC Asheville. Chanette Hicks led the Hokies, dropping in a career-high 24 points, including 15 in the second half. Regan Magarity added 12 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Sami Hill chipped in 11 points and Sidney Cook rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10.

Tech picked up its first win under first year head coach Kenny Brooks. With the win, the Hokies also improved to 40-10 overall in season openers and 21-4 at home.

THE HOYAS (1-0)
Georgetown opened the season with a 72-57 win over George Washington. Faith Woodard and Dorothy Adomako both tallied double-doubles to lead the Hoyas. Woodard tallied 22 points and 11 rebound while Adomako dropped in 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. DiDi Burton also recorded double digits for for the Hoyas with 11 while handing out five assists.

Adomako led the Hoyas in scoring last season, averaging 14.5 points while pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game. Dionna White recorded 14.5 points per game and a team-best 6.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists. Woodard averaged 9.0 ppg.

THE SERIES
The Hokies hold the lead in the series 4-3, but the Hoyas won the most recent meeting last season 73-56 in Washington, D.C.

Vanessa Panousis led Tech with 14 points while former Tech player Hannah Young tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds. Hicks chipped in 10 points and scooped up four steals.

Adomako had a game-best 19 points while White recorded 16 points, nine boards and five steals. Woodard chipped in 10 points for the Hoyas.
