GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore guard Vanessa Panousis has been named to the 2015 ACC All-Tournament Second Team after leading the Hokies to the quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
Panousis averaged 16 points, handed out 12 assists and hit 35.9 percent from the field during the Hokies’ three-game span. In addition, Panousis was 11-of-12 from the free throw line, including a 4-of-4 stretch to secure Tech’s win over Pitt in the second round.
While at the tournament, Panousis set a new Virginia Tech single-season three-pointer made record, ending her second season with 77. She tops the mark of 71 set by Lindsay Biggs during the 2008-09 season. In addition, she moved into fourth place on the career list for made treys. Panousis also tied Sue Logsdon (1990-91) for the single-season free throw percentage record with 88.9 percent.
