BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's basketball team wil host No. 23/22 Syracuse on Sunday, Feb. 15 in a 2 p.m. game at Cassell Coliseum. The contest marks the annual Play4Kay which raises awareness and funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund as it seeks to find an answer in the fight against women's cancers.

THE HOKIES (10-15, 1-11 ACC)
Virginia Tech dropped a road game at Pittsburgh the last time out. Taijah Campbell recorded her fifth double-double of the season and second in as many games with 11 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. Rachel Camp chipped in eight points and grabbed 10 boards.
The Hokies led by 18-13 with just under seven minutes to play in the first half, but Pitt closed out with an 11-0 run to take the six-point lead into the break. After the Panthers increased their advantage coming out of the break to 10, the Hokies were able to cut it back to a six point difference, but Pitt responded with a 12-3 run. Virginia Tech would get no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
Vanessa Panousis leads the Hokies on the season in scoring with 13.0 points per game and handing out 3.4 assists per game to rank eighth in the conference. The sophomore guard is also third on the ACC list for three-pointers made, averaging 2.3. Camp is chipping in 12.8 ppg. In addition Camp’s 6.2 rpg is good for 19th in the league. Campbell leads the team with 7.3 rebounds (12th most in the league) while adding 7.8 ppg.
THE ORANGE (17-8, 7-5 ACC)
Syracuse fell to Miami, 85-71 in the team’s last outing. Four players hit double-digits for the Orange with Alexis Peterson leading the way with 21. Brianna Butler tallied 10 while Briana Day had 11. Diamond Henderson rounded it out with 10 points.
Miami led by 10 at the break, but the Orange were able to get it down to five to start the half. The Hurricanes went up by 16 with 11 minutes to go. Syracuse was able to cut it to 10 several times in the final minutes, but would get no closer.
Peterson leads the Orange on the season with 15.2 points per game and has handed out a team-high 113 assists and tallied 58 steals. Butler is adding 12.6 ppg and Henderson 11.4 ppg. Day leads the Orange on the glass with 10.6 rpg.
THE SERIES
Virginia Tech leads the series 4-3, but the Orange won the game last season 73-48 in Syracuse. Panousis dropped in 13 points while former Tech player Uju Ugoka tallied 15 points and 12 boards. Brittney Sykes had 31 points for the Orange, but has been sidelined this season with an ACL injury. Day is the top returner from the game for Syracuse after dropping in nine points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The last time the two teams met in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech picked up a 77-63 win. A trio of former Hokie standouts reached double-digits in that game with Carrie Mason’s 22 points leading the way. Erin Gibson had 16 and Fran Recchia added 15.
