BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head coach Dennis Wolff announces the addition of Sidney Cook to the women’s basketball team for the 2014-15 academic year. Cook will have to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules.
“We are thrilled that Sidney has decided to come to Virginia Tech,” said Wolff. “Sidney is a talented player that had a productive year at Seton Hall.”

Prior to Virginia Tech: Named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman team… Appeared in all 31 games for the Pirates, making 11 starts… Averaged 6.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game… Tallied double digit rebounds in six consecutive games… Recorded first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds against Fresno State… Posted 11 points and 14 rebounds in BIG EAST debut versus St. John’s, earning BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors… Had third double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds at Providence… Notched double-digit points four times and double-digit rebounds seven times while averaging 21.8 minutes… Finished the season ranked 11th in the league in total rebounds with 200… Sat out the 2012-13 season due to injury.
High School: Rated the No. 63 player in the nation by All-Star Girls Report in 2012… Ranked the 17th best forward and 84th overall player by ESPN HoopGurlz… Earned AP All-State honors following senior campaign in North Carolina… Tallied over 1,000 points in just two seasons at South View High School… Set South View’s single-game rebound record with 20… Led South View to back-to-back 4A Eastern Regional title games… Was invited to USA Basketball u17 National Team trials in 2010… Earned Mid-South Player of the Year honors and was tabbed First Team All-State by the Fayetteville Observer and MaxPreps in 2010-11.
