The Hokies
The last time out, Virginia Tech faltered against Richmond, falling 64-56 at home. The Hokies and Spiders kept it close early in the first half, but Richmond took a six point lead in to the break. Tech cut it down to three several times in the second half, but was unable to get a run going as the Spiders held on for the win.

Uju Ugoka led the Hokies with 27 points and 17 rebounds for her third double-double of the season and eighth of her career. It was also Ugoka’s third consecutive game scoring 20 or more points, marking the first time in a decade that a Tech player has put up 20+ in three straight games. Freshman Vanessa Panousis was just one point shy of turning in her second 20 point performance of the season, posting 19 versus the Spiders.

Ugoka leads Tech on the season, averaging 17.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. She is one of five players in the ACC currently averaging a double-double and ranks seventh in scoring and third in rebounding. Panousis is adding 13.7 points per game while Monet Tellier is tallying 11.8 ppg while handing out 5.2 assists per game to rank third in the league.

Presbyterian most recently fell to South Carolina State, 43-41 in Orangeburg, S.C. Karlee Taylor was the top scorer for the Blue Hose with nine points. Rebecca Walker and Keyonna Allen grabbed six rebounds each and Aianna Kelly tallied four assists.

Virginia Tech marks the second ACC opponent the Blue Hose have faced this season. Presbyterian fell to NC State, 85-45 earlier in the month. Taylor tallied 12 points in the game while Kasey Hobbie recorded 10 points. Noelle Carter notched five rebounds.

Taylor is leading the team with 8.4 points per game. Allen is adding 8.2 and Walker is tallying 8.0 ppg. Carter is grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game with Allen and Walker pulling down 5.4 and 5.2, respectively.
