Harrison no longer on Tech women's basketball team
Senior appeared in 89 career games

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Dennis Wolff announced Tuesday that senior Shanel Harrison is no longer a member of the Hokies’ women’s basketball team for a violation of team rules.

“We wish Shanel the best as she pursues other opportunities, “ Wolff said.

Harrison (6-0, guard, Washington, D.C.), averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in her career. She appeared in 89 games with 43 starts and scored a career-high 27 points at Boston College last season.

In making the announcement, Wolff said there will be no further comment on the matter.
