LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Virginia Tech women’s basketball seniors Elizabeth Basham and Nikki Davis have been selected by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as members of the 2011 class of the WBCA’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” program.

The WBCA’s “So You Want To Be A Coach” is a collaborative effort between the WBCA and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to provide female student-athletes with an experience that becomes the foundation of a successful coaching career. The WBCA has assembled a group of experienced coaches and administrators who will serve as resources to share their knowledge, as well as provide attendees with networking opportunities which will help them in securing a coaching position.

“We are extremely excited for and proud of Nikki and Elizabeth,” said Virginia Tech head coach Beth Dunkenberger. ”Nikki aspires to be a basketball coach and Elizabeth wants to be a basketball director of operations, and participating in this prestigious program will definitely further prepare them for their future careers.”

Basham (Sr., Abingdon, Va.) has seen action in 53 games while battling shoulder injuries during her sophomore and junior seasons. This season she scored nine points, including two treys, at Minnesota in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Davis (Sr., Lexington, Ky.) transferred to Virginia Tech from Alabama following her freshman year. She has played in 71 games in her Tech career with 61 starts and currently ranks third in the ACC in assists (4.7), fifth in steals (2.5) and sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.4).

The Hokies return to action on Feb. 3 in a 7 p.m., contest at Boston College.
