Redick transfers
Tech sophomore leaving program after fall semester

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Beth Dunkenberger announced Thursday that sophomore Abby Redick has decided to transfer from the Hokies’ women’s basketball team.

“Abby has been a solid member of our program the last two years,” Dunkenberger said. “She is an excellent student-athlete and I wish her all the best as she pursues other opportunities.”

Redick (6-1, forward, Roanoke, Va.) averaged 2.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in her career. She appeared in 37 games and scored a career-high 10 points against Longwood during the 2009-10 season. Also in her freshman season, Redick set career highs of seven rebounds and four assists against North Carolina Central.

In making the announcement, Dunkenberger said there will be no further comment on the matter.
