BLACKSBURG, Va. – Two members of the 2009-10 Virginia Tech women’s basketball will test their skills overseas this fall playing in separate professional leagues. Lindsay Biggs and Utahya Drye, the top two scorers on last year’s team, concluded their Tech careers last season and have decided to continue their basketball careers in Europe.

During her Tech career, she set a school single-season record in 2008-09 with 71 three-point field goals and ended her career with 188 treys which is second all-time in career three-point field goals made behind Carrie Mason’s 200 baskets outside the arc. Last season, Drye became the 22nd member of the Virginia Tech 1,000 career point club with her 16-point effort in the Hokies upset of No. 10 North Carolina.
Drye is only the 11th player in school history to have scored 1,000 points with over 600 rebounds in her career. She joined Kerri Gardin (2002-06), a member of the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA, as only the second player in the program’s 34-year history to have 1,000 points, 600 rebounds and 200 assists. Gardin ended her career with 1,061 points, 784 rebounds and 259 assists.
