BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Beth Dunkenberger announced Monday that fifth-year senior Shani Grey is no longer a member of the Hokies’ women’s basketball team.
“During recent meetings with Shani Grey, we have decided that it would be best for Shani to pursue other opportunities, “ Dunkenberger said. “She has had many great moments here at Virginia Tech and we wish her well in the future.”
Grey (5-8, guard, Windsor, Conn.), who is scheduled to graduate in December, averaged 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in her career. She appeared in 74 games with 11 starts and scored a career-high 17 points against Radford during the 2008-09 season. Grey missed her freshman season (2006-07) after injuring her left knee in the preseason and had the same knee operated on again following the 2007-08 campaign.
In making the announcement, Dunkenberger said there will be no further comment on the matter.
