RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State used a 29-9 run to close the first half and coasted to a 70-57 win over Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Coliseum on the NC State campus. The Hokies fall to 12-11 overall and 2-7 in the ACC with their fourth consecutive loss while the Wolfpack snapped a three-game slide to improve to 13-10 and 3-5 in league play.

Virginia Tech opened the game on a 14-4 run, including treys by Utahya Drye, Shani Grey and Lindsay Biggs, forcing NC State to take a timeout only six minutes into to contest. The Wolfpack came out of the timeout and promptly went on 12-0 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.

The Wolfpack also were solid throughout the game at the free throw line connecting on 22-of-24 and outscored the Hokies 30-20 in the paint. Tech suffered 25 turnovers, the second most this season.

Lindsay Biggs led the Hokies with a game-high 21 points followed by Utahya Drye with 12 points and eight rebounds. In the contest Drye joined Kerri Gardin (2002-2006) as the only players in the history of the program to have 1,000 points, 600 rebounds and 200 assists.

NC State placed three players in double figures led by Marissa Kastanek with 19 points. Amber White and Bonae Holston added 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Tech returns to action on Thurs., Feb. 11, when the Hokies host Savannah State in the final non-conference game of the regular at 7 p.m.
