March 21, 2004Head Coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs
"I am very proud of my ladies. I told them that we are deserving of being here. We lost to a great team today that did everything they needed to do today to win."
On Penn State's zone defense:
"We are rather quick in the guard position, so I expected them to play zone. We are not the outside scoring team we have been in the past, so I think they felt they could put the pressure on us in the zone and see if we could shoot over it. We started taking our time and passing the ball more. If you make effective and quick passes you can lose the zone."
On Nicole Brathwaite's offensive game:
"Nicole got the ball. It's just that they (Penn State) collapsed on her, but when they collpased on her, that meant that somebody was open. She was able to get the ball out, but on her shots, a lot of times Penn State made good blocks on her."
On Penn State's 22-0 first half run:
"We didn't rotate on defense. They made a run, and Reicina (Russell) stepped out and made shots from the baseline. We just didn't take care of that on defense. A good team usually gets their runs, and they got one that was the difference."
Student-Athlete Lynetta Sullivan On the second half:
"We knew we had to come out in the second half and try to get back into the game. I think we came out and executed better and played better defense."
Student-Athlete Nicole Brathwaite Assessment of Penn State:
"Just like any other team, they go out there and play hard to win. It's not a matter of who is the best, it's a question of which team is going to go out there and work the hardest and they did."
