BLACKSBURG – After a two-week road trip, the Virginia Tech volleyball team returns home to Cassell Coliseum to serve as host to Syracuse on Friday and conclude the weekend with Boston College on Sunday. The Hokies take on the Orange at a new time this weekend, beginning at 8 p.m., followed by their usual Sunday match time of 1 p.m. against the Eagles.

The Hokies enter the weekend with a 15-13 overall record weekend, 6-10 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Orange come to Blacksburg sporting a 20-7 mark, 11-5 in the ACC, while the Eagles travel at 11-17 overall, 3-13 in conference.

For fans attending this weekend’s matches, Virginia Tech Athletics has a busy weekend planned. However, the usual volleyball parking in Lot 1 (Washington St. & Beamer Way) will be available as normal.

Tech is looking to bounce back after a pair of tough losses in North Carolina last weekend. Kenedy McGrath continues to move closer to the 1,000-dig mark, after recording 25 last weekend. Jaila Tolbert set a new personal best at NC State, tallying 13 kills and two solo blocks. Setter Kyra Coundourides notched the lone double-double for the Hokies this weekend with 14 assists and 10 digs at North Carolina.

Scouting the Orange:

Syracuse continues a two-week road trip, after two wins last weekend at Duke and Wake Forest. The Orange have won five of their last six matches including the most recent three-set victory over the Demon Deacons. Syracuse ranks first in the ACC in both opponent hitting percentage and blocks per set. Monika Salkute, Nicolette Serratore, and Leah Levert lead the Orange on the attack with 278, 281, and 298 kills, respectively.

Scouting the Eagles:

The Eagles come to Blacksburg as the last of their four-match road trip. Boston College is looking to return to its winning ways after two losses in North Carolina last weekend at Wake Forest and Duke. Senior Katty Workman sets the tone for Boston College’s offense, ranking second in the ACC in kills per set with 3.93.

The Series:

The Hokies lead the series with this weekend’s opponents, 20-8. Tech dropped a five-set decision at Syracuse in the most recent matchup. However, the Hokies are 5-2 overall with a perfect 2-0 mark at home. Virginia Tech walked away with a 3-0 sweep in the last meeting with Boston College to up the 15-6 overall record.

Up Next:

The Hokies travel to Pittsburgh for their final road trip of the season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Tech returns home on Saturday for Senior Night at 4 p.m. against Virginia.
