KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Redshirt senior All-American Hunter Hall took second place in the invitational section of the men’s pole vault as members of the Virginia Tech pole vault crew competed on day three of the Sea Ray Relays, hosted by the University of Tennessee, at Tom Black Track Saturday.
Hall was one of four competitors to clear 17-4.5 (5.30m) as he finished second to former Hokie All-American Jared Jodon on misses. Hall has cleared the same height of 17-4.5 in each of his three pole vault competitions this outdoor season.
Redshirt senior All-American Joe Davis tied for fifth at 17-0.75 (5.20m) and senior Mike Miller notched a personal best clearance of 16-8.75 (5.10m) to finish ninth. Freshman Chris Uhle and sophomore Corey Shank did not clear the opening bar of 15-11 (4.85m).
In addition to the action at Tennessee, Tech redshirt senior Kieran Lee competed in the 400 meters at the Furman Invitational in Greenville, S.C. Lee finished third in the event with a time of 51.19.
Also of note at Furman, Ryan Witt, who recently wrapped up his Tech career this indoor season, made an attempt at a sub four-minute mile in the Blue Shoes Mile and finished second in 4:01.29.
The Hokies will compete in the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championship next week (April 19-21) at Lannigan Field on the campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
