Adam Witten enters his eighth season as scoreboard anchor for the Virginia Tech IMG Sports Network. Witten's responsibilities include hosting the pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows during Tech radio broadcasts. Additionally, he has filled in to bring fans the play-by-play of Tech basketball over the last several years.
A native of Sarasota, Fla., Witten graduated magna cum laude from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. in 2004 with a degree in Electronic Media/Broadcasting. While at Appalachian, Witten worked as sports director for campus radio station WASU-FM serving as a play-by-play broadcaster for select ASU football, basketball and baseball games as well as the host of a weekly talk show.
Witten also spent five years with the Appalachian Sports Network, serving a variety of roles on the radio airwaves including football sideline reporter and tailgate show host, men's basketball court side host and analyst, women's basketball play by play announcer and host of the Mountaineers' football and basketball call-in shows. In addition, he served as assistant director of the Southern Conference Sports Network, which included play by play of the league's championship events in basketball and baseball.
Along with his roles on the radio, Witten spent two years as his alma mater's director of video operations. In that role, he served as coordinating producer of both the football and men's basketball weekly television shows as well as Appalachian's 2005 I-AA football national championship commemorative DVD.
In addition to his current duties with Virginia Tech, Witten is IMG's conference network manager for the ACC. He oversees all radio broadcast operations within the company's conference properties and has also provided national play-by-play for some of the league's biggest events including Thursday night football, bowl games and the ACC men's basketball tournament.
Adam is married as he and his wife Nicole were joined in June of 2008 and the couple now resides in Winston-Salem, NC.
