EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s cross country team raced its way to a seventh place finish at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational while the women’s cross country team finished 10^th in the meet.

The men were led by senior Leoule Degfae who finished his 8K with a time of 23:50.20 en route to an overall 2^nd place finish individually just behind Eastern Kentucky’s Soufiane Bouchikhi.

Junior Jared Berman finished next for the Hokies with a time of 24:30.50 for a 33^rd place finish overall while freshman teammate Stuart Robinson finished in 37^th place with a time of 24:35.40

Sophomores Juan Campos (54^th) and Ryan Kuhns (79^th) posted times of 24:57.40 and 25:41.60 respectively.

The women were led by sophomore Katarina Smiljanec who finished her 5K in 48^th place with a time of 18:22.20. Sophomore teammate Ashley Hayes was just behind her in 49^th place overall with a time of 18:24.10.

Freshman Shannon Morton finished in 58^th overall while sophomore Amanda Smith, junior Frankie Dowd, sophomore Lauren Jaeger and freshman Hannah Green finished in 66^th, 67^th, 75^th, and 98^th places respectively.

The Hokies are in action again on Oct. 4 at the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, N.C.
