EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s cross country team raced its way to a seventh place finish at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational while the women’s cross country team finished 10th in the meet.
The men were led by senior Leoule Degfae who finished his 8K with a time of 23:50.20 en route to an overall 2nd place finish individually just behind Eastern Kentucky’s Soufiane Bouchikhi.
Junior Jared Berman finished next for the Hokies with a time of 24:30.50 for a 33rd place finish overall while freshman teammate Stuart Robinson finished in 37th place with a time of 24:35.40
Sophomores Juan Campos (54th) and Ryan Kuhns (79th) posted times of 24:57.40 and 25:41.60 respectively.
The women were led by sophomore Katarina Smiljanec who finished her 5K in 48th place with a time of 18:22.20. Sophomore teammate Ashley Hayes was just behind her in 49th place overall with a time of 18:24.10.
Freshman Shannon Morton finished in 58th overall while sophomore Amanda Smith, junior Frankie Dowd, sophomore Lauren Jaeger and freshman Hannah Green finished in 66th, 67th, 75th, and 98th places respectively.
The Hokies are in action again on Oct. 4 at the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, N.C.
