NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams each moved up in the latest Southeast regional rankings, as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Hokie men gained two spots up to number six, while the women jumped one place to number seven in the region.

The men’s team is coming off a second-place finish at the Clemson Invitational on Friday, while the women placed fourth of 12 teams at Clemson. For the men, junior Ryan Hagen lead the way in 14th with a time of 24:46.39 for the eight kilometer course. Sophomore Taylor Crosson finished first for the Tech women in 21:50.32 over the six kilometer Musser Farms course to place 22nd individually.

The Hokies return to action in two weeks on Friday, Sept. 30, as they will split the squad between two meets. Hokie runners will either compete on campus at the Virginia Tech Open at the Tech Cross Country Course or travel to Charlotte, N.C., for the Charlotte Invitational.
