Sophomore reminisces on her favorite memory as a Hokie from a week ago

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team boasts a roster of talented, skilled and interesting student-athletes. In an effort to learn more about their lives on and off the court, HokieSports.com will interview select Virginia Tech women’s tennis players each week.

This week, we sat down with sophomore Emily Pence.

What differences are there from your hometown to Blacksburg?

Emily Pence: I am from Virginia Beach, which is a fairly big city. The city is very flat and has an ocean. Blacksburg is very different from Virginia Beach because it is a very small town with a lot of mountains surrounding it.

Where are your favorite spots to go on campus?

EP: My favorite spots on campus are Lane Stadium and the Drill Field.

What got you involved with tennis?

EP: My dad is a tennis coach, so I have been around it my whole life.

If you could switch places with another Tech athlete, who would it be?

EP: I would switch places with anyone on the basketball team because I love watching basketball.

Who do you look up to the most? Why?

EP: I look up to my parents the most because they are so inspirational to me.

How has your time been as a Hokie so far?

EP: It has been the greatest time of my life. I have so much fun in every aspect of my life at Tech.

What has been your favorite memory as a Hokie so far?

EP: My favorite memory is from a couple nights ago when Tech came back and beat Arkansas in the Belk Bowl.

What has tennis done for you?

EP: Tennis has made me a stronger, more well-rounded person.
