Fusinato, Cerezo-Codina garner All-ACC honors
Hokies place two on All-ACC teams for second straight year

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two members of the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team earned All-ACC honors as announced last week by the conference. Junior Francesca Fusinato made the second team while Elena Cerezo-Codina was chosen as a member of the third team.

Fusinato was selected All-ACC Second Team for the second time in as many years, in addition to earning third team honors as a freshman. She finished the season ranked No. 59 in the country after tallying 11 singles wins, mostly out of the one spot for the Hokies. Fusinato was named ACC Player of the Week for the second time in her career after defeating the nation’s top-ranked player in Clemson’s Julia Eidukonyte back in January. She also played a prominent role in Tech’s upset of then-No. 16 Georgia Tech by defeating No. 30 Johnisse Renaud, one of her several victories over ranked opponents on the season.

Sophomore Cerezo-Codina earned her first All-ACC honors after a 14-win season, mostly in the two spot for the Hokies. She bounced in and out of the national rankings throughout the season, cracking the Top 100 on multiple different occasions. Her two-set victory over Samantha Harris helped lead Tech to one of its biggest victories in program history, a 5-2 triumph over then-No. 6 Duke back in March. Cerezo-Codina picked up two singles victories over higher-ranked opponents on the season, including one over No. 30 Whitney Kay in the Hokies’ narrow 4-3 loss to No. 2 North Carolina.

UNC’s Hayley Carter was named ACC Player of the Year, while Georgia Tech’s Randy Harmon earned Coach of the Year.
