BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 30th-ranked Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will play its last two matches of the regular season this weekend as they travel to South Bend, In. to take on Notre Dame on Friday before traveling to Syracuse for a Sunday match with the Orange.
The Hokies (14-7, 7-5 ACC) fell to some of the conference and nation’s top competition in No. 2 UNC and No. 15 Virginia last weekend in Blacksburg. Tech is currently tied for sixth in the ACC standings and has a chance this weekend to improve their seeding for next week’s ACC Tournament with a couple wins. Francesca Fusinato jumped four spots in the rankings to No. 45 this week for Tech while Elena Cerezo-Codina entered the ranks at No. 95 after a pair of solid outings this weekend, including a win over then-No. 17 Whitney Kay of UNC.

The Irish are led by senior Quinn Gleason out of the one spot, who jumped 14 spots in the singles rankings this week after beating No. 32 Johnnise Renaud of Georgia Tech on Sunday. Notre Dame also features two other players ranked in the top-125 in No. 81 Monica Robinson and No. 108 Allison Miller.
No. 32 Syracuse (12-6, 6-6 ACC) defeated Louisville and Pittsburgh over the weekend to move to .500 in the conference. The Orange have two ranked players in No. 76 Anna Shkudun and No. 98 Gabriella Knutson, who boasts a 12-5 singles dual record on the year. Valeria Salazar and Libi Mesh both are on four-match win streaks for Syracuse as well.
Tech will head to Cary, N.C. next week for the ACC Tournament after the action this weekend.
