No. 31 Hokies return home to face No. 16 Georgia Tech
Tech, Yellow Jackets set to meet at 3 p.m. on Friday

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 31st-ranked Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will be back in action at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Friday at 3 p.m. as No. 16 Georgia Tech comes to town for a conference tilt in Blacksburg.

The Hokies (13-5, 6-3 ACC) are eyeing their fourth win in a row and looking to continue momentum as they head into a big weekend with matches against No. 3 North Carolina and No. 12 Virginia beginning next Friday. Tech is 8-1 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center this season with the only loss coming in a tightly contested 4-3 affair with then-No. 20 Clemson.

Last time out Virginia Tech took down No. 43 N.C. State by a count of 5-2 on Sunday in Raleigh after taking care of Louisville 6-1 on the road on Friday. The wins bumped the Hokies up a couple spots from No. 33 to No. 31 in the latest ITA rankings and a victory over Georgia Tech would help them jump even higher in the polls as the regular season winds down.

The Yellow Jackets (12-5, 7-1) are on a win streak of their own, winning their last five matches, four of which came over ranked opponents. The Jackets moved from No. 22 to No. 16 in the nation after a pair of wins over No. 25 Clemson and Pittsburgh in Atlanta last weekend. They are led by Johnnise Renaud who is ranked 30th in the country and was named the ACC Female Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday.
