Daxhelet places second in singles at ITA Atlantic Regional
Hokies wrap up impressive regional showing

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Caroline Daxhelet fell to Virginia’s Julia Elbaba by a score of 6-1, 6-1 in in the championship match of the singles draw at the ITA Atlantic Regional in Lynchburg on Monday. Elbaba is the 3rd-ranked player in the country and has yet to lose a match on the young Fall season.

Daxhelet’s second-place finish came in addition to three of the eight players in Sunday’s quarterfinals being Hokies. 64 players from across the region competed in the singles main draw in addition to several players who competed in qualifying rounds. Tech and in-state rival Virginia more or less dominated the singles draw throughout the weekend, an indicator that we could be in for an exciting Spring in the ACC.

The Hokies will have the upcoming weekend off before hitting the court on Friday, October 30th in Spartanburg, SC for the Terrier Fall Classic.
